Connect, move, and grow together

Aikido is a non-competitive Japanese martial art that focus on connection and flow instead of resistance. Instead of clashing with what comes our way, we learn to blend with it, redirect its energy, and stay in control. The purpose is not to ”win” - it is to stay mutually safe and keep growing with our partners. Attacks end up with throws or pinning to the ground and the attackers either roll happily on their way or having a short time for relaxation on the ground. All done only after you learn to do it in a safe way.

In training, you will practice a way of adjusting yourself to others while staying centred. More than technique, Aikido is about mindset: Connecting, adapting and learning to rise again. It is resilience in motion. People stick with Aikido for years, not just for the physical benefits but for the calm, joy, personal growth and friendships. After many years of practice there is the realization that we have much more to learn.

You do not need any prior experience to start. Our classes are designed to suit all levels of experience, fitness and flexibility. There are no kids classes, only adults of all ages, from 18 to 70, with some exceptions. You will train at your own pace, with partners who support your growth. The only physical requirement is being able to sit on the floor and stand back up. No special gear needed, just comfortable clothes and an open mind.

Come try a class. You might just find what you did not know you were looking for.

No amount of words and pictures can describe it, best to experience a class for yourself.
